Justin Krueger: German-Canadian Hockey Player
Justin Krueger is a German-born, Canadian citizen ice hockey player who currently plays as a defenseman for Lausanne HC.
Early Career and NHL Draft
Youth HockeyKrueger's hockey journey began in Duisburg, Germany. In 2003, he joined the youth team of Swiss club HC Davos, where he spent two seasons.
Transition to North America
In 2005, Krueger relocated to Canada and played for the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). However, his performance declined significantly during his one season with the Vees.
NCAA and Professional Debut
Cornell UniversityFrom 2006 to 2010, Krueger played for the Cornell University Big Red in the NCAA, majoring in management. He twice won the ECAC League's Best Defensive Defenseman award (2008 and 2009) and led the team to the championship in 2010.
Switzerland and AHL
After graduating, Krueger returned to Switzerland to play for SC Bern. In 2011, he signed with the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL, but he was assigned to their AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. Krueger spent two seasons with the Checkers, establishing himself as a reliable defenseman.
Return to Europe
In May 2013, Krueger left Charlotte and rejoined SC Bern, signing a two-year contract. He has since returned to Switzerland and represented Germany at four World Championships (2010-2013) and two World Junior Championships (2004 and 2006).
