Biography of Jutta Limbach
Jutta Limbach, the President of the German Cultural Center named after Goethe, studied jurisprudence and initially remained loyal to the university, dedicating herself to an academic career. She defended her doctoral dissertation and obtained a professorship. Moreover, she became the first woman to defend a doctoral dissertation on legal issues in Berlin. Seven years ago, she became the first woman to head the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany. Currently, at the age of 67, Jutta Limbach has been elected as the President of the Goethe Institute. This organization is primarily engaged in educational activities abroad, including organizing exhibitions, exchanging theater and music groups, and conducting German language Olympiads.
Early Life and Academic Career
Jutta Limbach studied jurisprudence and initially remained loyal to the university, dedicating herself to an academic career. She defended her doctoral dissertation and obtained a professorship. In 1962, she joined the Social Democratic Party and began her involvement in politics. She became a member of the expert commission on family affairs at the Federal Ministry for Youth, Women, and Health. Since 1989, she served as a senator for justice in Berlin. After the reunification of Germany, Senator Jutta Limbach had to solve numerous delicate problems, particularly regarding the comprehensive reorganization of the legal system, which had to act uniformly in both western and eastern parts of Germany.
