Early Life and Education

Education and Early Career

Kabdesh Zhumadilov was born in China, where his first literary works were published in the newspaper "Xinjiang" and the magazine "Shugyla." In 1965, he graduated from the Kazakh State University (now Al-Farabi Kazakh National University).

Literary Career

Authorial Debut and Publications

In 1967, Zhumadilov published his first collection of poetry, "Zhas Dauren." He went on to write numerous short stories, novellas, and novels, including "Uletaiut Gusi" (1968), "Sary Jailau" (1978), "Vypukloe Steklo" (1981), and "Argamaki" (1984).

Historical Novels and Historical Criticism

Zhumadilov wrote several historical novels, including "Posledniy Karavan" (1974-1981), "Kokaykesty" (1969), and "Dorogoy Schastya" (1975). In his novels "Otechy Kray" (1985) and "Sudba" (1989), he criticized the Soviet government for its treatment of the Kazakh people.

Recognition and Awards

National Recognition and Honors

In 1990, Zhumadilov was awarded the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR named after Abai. In 1998, he was bestowed the title of "People's Writer of Kazakhstan."

Presidential Recognition and Order of Parasat

In 2005, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev awarded Zhumadilov the Order of Parasat for his contributions to the nation's cultural development.

Political Views

Zhumadilov has been critical of Nazarbayev's government for its handling of the Zhanaozen massacre in 2011.
