Early Life and Career Pursuits
Lauren Keyana "Keke" Palmer was born on August 26, 1993, in Harvey, Illinois. She initially aspired to become a singer, participating in the 2003 "American Juniors" competition, a spin-off of "American Idol." However, the show was canceled before she could appear.
Musical Breakthrough
Despite this setback, Palmer signed with Atlantic Records and released her debut single, "All My Girlz," for the soundtrack of "Akeelah and the Bee" (2006). She went on to perform at VH1's "Music Battle of the High School Marching Bands" and contributed songs to the "Jump In!" (2007) soundtrack.
Disney Ventures and Soundtrack Success
Upon signing with Disney, Palmer recorded songs for "Jump In!" and the "Night at the Museum" soundtrack. She also covered "True to Your Heart" and "Reflection" from "Mulan" for DisneyMania 5 and 6, respectively.
Debut Album and Intermittent Releases
Palmer's debut album, "So Uncool," was released in 2007. The single "Bottoms Up" appeared on the soundtrack of "Make It Happen" (2008). She later signed with Interscope Records and worked on a new album, releasing "Super Jerkin" as its first single.
Music Videos and Social Media
Palmer created a dance competition for her song "Super Jerkin" and shared videos for "Biology" and "Facebook Stalker" on her MySpace account. She has since pursued both acting and music, starring in the Nickelodeon series "True Jackson, VP" and continuing to release new music.
