Kala Kaiwi - Guinness World Record Holder for Largest Ear Tunnels
Kala Kaiwi is a resident of Hawaii who recently made it into the Guinness World Records as the person with the largest ear tunnels. Also known as extreme body modification, Kaiwi has made some rather unusual choices for self-expression. He has adorned his body with scar tattoos, implanted horn-like objects under his skin, sharpened his teeth to resemble fangs, and stretched his earlobes to an astonishing size.
A Life of Modification
Kala Kaiwi resides in Hawaii and works at a tattoo parlor. During his free time, he engages in modifying his own body. It is impossible to count the number of piercings on his body, especially on his face, which is covered in metal. His forehead, around his eyes, and even his chin whiskers glisten with metal adornments. But that is not all - he also has several horn-like implants under his scalp, and tattoos that cover his face and neck.
Remarkable Ear Tunnels
Kala's nostrils are also stretched, with metal rings inserted into the elongated holes. However, the most notable feature is his earlobes, which he has stretched to a frighteningly large size. The tunnels in his ears have a diameter of 109 millimeters, or 4.3 inches, allowing an adult's hand or even a fist to pass through easily. It is these impressive ear tunnels that earned Kala Kaiwi his Guinness World Records certificate.
A Passion for Body Modification
Kala Kaiwi learned his unconventional craft in Las Vegas in 1999, after which he returned to Hawaii and opened his own salon. People from all over come to his salon to modify their bodies non-surgically. Kaiwi considers his work a true art form. He proudly boasts that he has personally inserted titanium implants in his own head, as he does not believe in using silicone implants like some others in the industry. He is delighted that body modification is no longer considered taboo, as it would not have been possible for a business like his to thrive a few decades ago. Kala sees extreme body modification as a way for individuals to express themselves and stand out from the crowd.
A Guinness World Record Holder
Kala Kaiwi takes great pride in his unbelievably large earlobes and proudly shows off his Guinness World Records certificate to anyone interested. Of course, his ear tunnels are not the only modifications he has made. Aside from the gigantic rings in his earlobes, his ears are also adorned with metallic studs, and tattoos can be found in various places. While it is possible that there may be a tribe living deep in the African jungles with even larger ear tunnels than Kaiwi's, he is the one who applied for and received recognition from the Guinness World Records, while those distant Africans may not even be aware of such a publication. Kala Kaiwi holds the world record for the largest ear tunnels, measuring an astonishing 10.9 centimeters.
