Early Life and Education

Born on November 28, 1967, Alexey Skorodumov initially pursued a career in geology, graduating from an English school and enrolling in the Geology Faculty of Moscow University in 1984. However, his passion for computers ignited in 1988 when he began working with them, leading him to withdraw from university for two years while serving in the communication troops.

Entry into Computer Journalism

Skorodumov resumed his university studies in 1991, graduating the following year. He then joined the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Geochemistry as a software engineer. However, his destiny took a different turn in 1992 when he began writing articles for the respected "KomputerPress" magazine.

Rapid Rise in the Industry

In 1993, Skorodumov officially transitioned to KomputerPress as a staff writer. His talent and expertise were quickly recognized, culminating in his promotion to Deputy Editor in 1996. By 1997, he had taken on the role of Editor-in-Chief of the new monthly magazine "Microsoft Solutions" published by KomputerPress and Microsoft Russia.

Literary Success

In addition to his impressive journalism career, Skorodumov began publishing books in 1995 with "Windows 95 for All." This work was followed by numerous other books, including "Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 for All" in 1997 and "Practical Course for Young Fighter" in 1999. His books have garnered significant recognition, with "Course for Young Fighter" selling over 200,000 copies and his overall book sales exceeding 400,000 copies.

Industry Recognition

Skorodumov's contributions to the computer journalism industry have been widely acknowledged. He was recognized in the Dator Top4 list of Computer Journalists in 1997 and 1998, and in the Dator Top7 in 1996. He also developed educational courses taught by LANIT's Network Academy and authored several computer user textbooks.

Continued Success

In 2000, Skorodumov's literary accomplishments expanded with the publication of his first novel, "Fear of Heights." He has since co-authored "Windows Me: User's Companion" and "Course for Young Fighter 2000." In 2001, he became the Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of BYTE/Russia magazine, a joint publication of the Piiter and SK Press publishing houses.
