Early Life and EducationBorn on February 21, 1990, in Busan, South Korea, Kang Ha-neul's parents' acting backgrounds paved the way for his creative talents. He attended a school theater club and concurrently pursued Thai boxing, which aided him in losing weight for his acting aspirations. Kang studied at Seoul Arts High School and later graduated from Chung-Ang University's Department of Theater and Film, where he was classmates with Park Shin-hye and Kim Eun-soo.
Musical Theater and Film Debut
Kang's stage career began in his college days with roles in musicals such as "Thrill Me," "Black Mary Poppins," and "Assassins." He made his on-screen debut at age 17 in the 2007 drama series "Super Mom." However, it was his portrayal of Lee Hyo-shin in the 2013 SBS drama "Heirs" that launched him to stardom.
Expanding Film Roles
Kang has showcased his versatility in a range of films. In the 2014 horror "Mourning Grave," he played a troubled high school student with the ability to see ghosts. "Angel Eyes" earned him a Best Young Actor nomination at the Seoul International Youth Film Festival. He portrayed Prince Wang Wook in the 2016 fantasy romance "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo," opposite Lee Joon-gi and Lee Ji-eun.
