Early Life and Pre-Debut Years

Kang Seul-gi was born on February 10, 1994, in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. She attended Ansan Byeolmang Middle School and Seoul Performing Arts High School. In addition to her native Korean, Seul-gi is fluent in Japanese.

In 2007, Seul-gi successfully auditioned for S.M. Entertainment and became a trainee. In December 2013, she was introduced as a member of the pre-debut team SM Rookies alongside Wendy and Irene. In July 2014, she featured on Henry Lau's (Super Junior-M) song "Butterfly" for his second mini-album, Fantastic, and appeared in the music video.

Career with Red Velvet and Solo Activities

On August 1, 2014, Seul-gi debuted as a member of Red Velvet with the digital single "Happiness." In January 2015, she made her musical theater debut in "School Oz" as Dorothy. From April to May, she participated in the variety show "Off to School."

Seul-gi released several solo songs and collaborations, including "Don't Push Me" (with Wendy) in July 2016, "You, Just Like That" in November 2016, and "Darling U" (with Yesung) in January 2017. In 2018, she joined the cast of "Law of the Jungle in Mexico" and the JTBC show "Secret Unnie" with Sunmi.

Sub-Unit Debut and Collaborations

In April 2020, SM Entertainment announced the formation of Red Velvet's first sub-unit, Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi. The sub-unit debuted on July 6 with their mini-album "Monster," which featured Seul-gi's solo song "Uncover."

Seul-gi has collaborated with various artists, including Zion.T, Moonbyul, and the Station Young project. She has also participated in several variety shows and released a number of solo singles and soundtracks.
