Early Life and Education
Kashagan Dzhamanagaraev was born on May 8, 1910, in the village of Karakermer, now in Kazakhstan, to a peasant family. His education was incomplete, and he worked as an accountant in a collective farm before joining the Red Army in 1942.
World War II
Dzhamanagaraev served as a gun commander in the 1st Guards Cannon Artillery Brigade of the 1st Guards Artillery Division, part of the 60th Army on the Voronezh Front. He fought bravely in various battles of the Great Patriotic War.
Heroic Deeds
On August 26, 1943, near the village of Romanov, Dzhamanagaraev's unit was attacked by enemy tanks. He single-handedly destroyed two tanks and forced the rest to retreat. Later, on October 7, 1943, during the battle for a bridgehead on the right bank of the Dnieper River, he eliminated an enemy platoon and set fire to two tanks.
Recognition and Awards
For his exceptional bravery and leadership, Dzhamanagaraev was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union on October 17, 1943. He received the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal with the number 1907.
Post-War Life
After the war, Dzhamanagaraev returned to his homeland and worked in a state farm. He moved to Almaty in 1982 and passed away on September 22, 2001. He was buried in his native village.
