On that fateful Halloween night in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Zhumaguzhin was approached to perform a stunt that involved portraying a mummy hanging from a rope at a nightclub. Zhumaguzhin remained suspended for approximately 15 minutes, signaling to assistants that he was doing well. According to Yevgenia Li, a spokesperson for the Nomad Stunts professional stunt group, Zhumaguzhin's physical condition and equipment were checked prior to the performance.

After being lowered, Zhumaguzhin complained of feeling unwell and promptly collapsed. Paramedics were unable to resuscitate him. Unconfirmed reports suggest he suffered an acute primary myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack.
