When she met Igor Akinfeev, the Kyiv-born actress Kateryna Gerun had no idea that she was interacting with a Russian football star. Later, the woman shared that she not only knew nothing about sports but also disliked relationships with people from that field. However, the young man, with whom they were introduced by a mutual friend, charmed the actress with his intelligence and thoughtfulness to the extent that her opinion changed on its own.
Childhood and Adolescence
The hometown of the Russian goalkeeper's wife is Kyiv. This is where she was born on November 1, 1986, and spent her childhood and adolescence. The woman's parents were philologists. Her father wrote books, while her mother taught Russian language and literature at one of the capital's schools. Kateryna recalls that at home, they conversed both in Ukrainian and Russian, which allowed her to master both languages effortlessly. However, literature never attracted her.
Having graduated from school, Kateryna opted for the profession of a chemical production technologist and entered the Pharmaceutical Academy in Kharkiv. However, while still a student, Gerun began working for a company that distributed foreign films. The diploma of a chemist was soon forgotten, and the graduate of the pharmaceutical academy went for her second degree to the studio at the Les Kurbas Lviv Academic Theater, which she graduated in 2010.
Career
The woman's acting career began with work in commercials. Gerun also worked as a model for glossy publications. In 2007, Kateryna passed a casting for a music video for the song "Remember" by Sergey Lazarev. The script, directing, and production of the video were done by the famous music video producer Irina Mironova. Among her works, there is a considerable number of videos for Alla Pugacheva, Kristina Orbakaite, Stas Mikhailov, Bi-2, MakSim, and even Timati and Decl. The plot required the then student of the pharmaceutical academy to play the artist's beloved. The segments in which the heroes searched for each other in long corridors and interiors alternated with sensual scenes of hugging and kissing against the backdrop of a screen broadcasting the sound of the sea.
In 2018, after Akinfeev's victorious performance in the World Cup match against Spain, Lazarev posted a story on Instagram, saying that, to his surprise, the current goalkeeper's wife had starred in his video ten years ago. However, the artist's followers received the words that "the music video was hot" ambiguously. Some saw it as an attempt to offend the couple, while others as an attempt to ride the wave of the Russian football player's popularity. Lazarev was forced to add a comment to the post stating that he did not intend to hurt Kateryna's or her famous husband's feelings. Akinfeev himself, as well as Gerun, chose not to react to the scandal publicly.
In 2012, the Kyiv native's history expanded to include three films. Kateryna played leading roles in the short films "Life After Death" and "Loveboat." The same year, she was cast as a cameo in the melodrama "Lectures for Housewives." The film, starring Boris Khvoshnyansky, Olga Grishina, and Fyodor Gurinets, aired on the Russian TV channel "Domashny" in December 2012.
Personal Life
Kateryna and Igor met in Moscow. The young people only managed to exchange phone numbers, and the next day the woman returned to Ukraine. Their virtual correspondence lasted for several months before the couple took a vacation together. Then, Igor decided that their relationship should move to a more serious level.
The wedding was celebrated in such a narrow circle that the public learned about Igor Akinfeev's legal wife only after the birth of their son. The boy, who was named Danya, was born on May 17, 2014. As Kateryna later recalled, her husband stood at the door of the delivery room and encouraged her: "Come on! How long can it take? I would have given birth ages ago!" Now, the couple has two children. On September 4, 2015, Daniil's sister was born. She was named Evangelina. The choice of the name was not random: the family adheres to Orthodox traditions. As the parents note, they want to tell their daughter and son about the details of Orthodox culture but leave the choice of religion up to them later.
The couple rarely travels together at the moment. In an interview, Kateryna admitted that their dream is to take a trip to the cities of the "Golden Ring." The couple plans to fulfill it with their children when they grow up.
The Akinfeevs are friends with the family of Sergey Zhukov, the permanent vocalist of the pop group "Ruki Vverkh!" The captain of the Russian national team met the musician in the early 2000s. Zhukov even offered the athlete to become godfather to his daughter, and the football player gladly agreed.
Kateryna Gerun Today
The other half of the leader of the Russian national football team is raising their children. In an interview, the goalkeeper shared that his wife speaks both Russian and English with their daughter and son. Thus, at the age of one and a half, the girl had learned to count to ten in English.
"Komsomolskaya Pravda" reported that Gerun opened her own beauty salon, but neither Kateryna nor Igor confirmed this information. In February 2018, the woman indicated "Moscow Film School" in the "Education" section of her Facebook profile. In the summer of 2018, the couple attended the opening of Sergey Zhukov's confectionery.
Kateryna Gerun has an Instagram account, but after information about her "star" marriage became public, the photos she posted began appearing in the press. As a result, she closed her profile. Before that, she shared pictures from vacations and social events.
