Katherine Waterston was born in Westminster, London, to actor Sam Waterston and former model Lynn Louisa Woodruff. Her artistic lineage influenced her decision to pursue a career in acting, leading her to the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

Early Career and Breakthrough Role

After completing her acting studies, Waterston embarked on a screen career, appearing in several independent films. In the late 2000s, she relocated to Los Angeles and made a name for herself on the theater stage, as well as landing minor roles in films like "Taking Woodstock" and "Being Flynn." Her breakout role came in 2014's "Inherent Vice," where her supporting turn earned her a Satellite Award nomination.
