Keisha Lance Bottoms, an American lawyer and politician, received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida A&M University in 1991. She went on to obtain her Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia in 1994.

After graduating, Bottoms practiced law privately from 2000 to 2010. Her focus was on commercial litigation and real estate law.
Political Career
Atlanta City CouncilBottoms entered the political arena in 2010 when she was elected to the Atlanta City Council. She served in that capacity until her election as mayor in 2018.
Mayor of Atlanta
In the 2017 Atlanta mayoral election, Bottoms emerged as the victor after a highly contested run-off against Mary Norwood. She took office as Atlanta's mayor on January 2, 2018.
Atlanta Riots and Mask Mandate
During her tenure, Bottoms has faced significant challenges, including the Atlanta riots in 2020 following the death of George Floyd. She has also implemented a mandatory mask mandate to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, drawing legal opposition from Governor Brian Kemp.
