Keith Martin: The World's Heaviest Man
BiographyKeith Martin, also known as the world's heaviest man, held the title for a period of time, weighing a staggering 444 kg at the peak of his obesity. His weight was officially recognized by the Guinness World Records. Unfortunately, the number '4' became somewhat fateful for this immense man. Keith Martin passed away at the age of 44, according to official reports, due to pneumonia.

Keith Martin lived in England, but his life proved to be too short. In 2014, at the age of 44, Keith passed away. The cause of his death was attributed to pneumonia, although it is impossible to ignore his weight, which was simply enormous. At one point, he weighed 444 kg, or 70 stones according to British measurements. It is difficult to say whether Keith was happy about his record when Guinness World Records recognized it, as he could not walk and was confined to his bed.

Keith developed a love for eating from a young age, and from adolescence onward, he completely forgot about moderation in food. He attributed this to the strong stress he experienced after the death of his mother. However, Keith always had a clear view of himself and the reality around him, admitting that his obesity was solely his own fault.

In his final years, Martin consumed up to 20,000 calories per day, mainly consisting of fast food and sweet desserts. Although he knew what healthy eating was, he was unable to break his habit of consuming unhealthy food. As a result, Keith's weight became increasingly threatening with each passing year, until one day he simply stopped moving – his body was no longer able to bear such a heavy burden.

Keith was bedridden but continued to eat. His diet consisted mostly of pizza, kebabs, hamburgers, fried potatoes, wings, and an enormous amount of sugary drinks – the same unhealthy food that many people around the world sadly love. As a snack, he consumed unimaginable quantities of chocolate, biscuits, ice cream, and chips.

Taking care of Keith was extremely challenging, with at least 18 doctors, nurses, and caregivers constantly monitoring his well-being. The British authorities have even begun to seriously consider whether the burden of supporting people with obesity is too heavy for taxpayers. There is now serious consideration of increasing taxes on fast food.

Eight months before his death, Keith Martin underwent a surgery to reduce the size of his stomach, performed by Dr. Kesava Mannur. The surgeon later stated that he believed the cause of Keith's obesity was the consumption of fast food, which ultimately proved to be his downfall. Unfortunately, the operation could not save Keith, despite reducing his stomach by three-quarters. The surgery itself was successful, and Dr. Mannur asserted that if it weren't for the unfortunate pneumonia, Keith would have been able to stand up and live a normal life in due time.
After the surgery, Keith felt incredibly happy and even admitted that he had recently made a promise to himself that he would never go to the hospital – he would either die in his own bed or take his own life. However, after the operation, a newfound hope emerged within him, and such thoughts no longer had a place. Keith also confessed that he had wasted many years lying in bed and overeating, but now he intended to stand up and live a full life, without wasting a single minute of precious time.
Unfortunately, his dreams were not meant to come true – Keith Martin's life was cut short by pneumonia. Shortly before his stomach reduction surgery, Keith recorded a video message to his family, expressing his deep love for them and thanking them for their support. He emphasized that he blamed only himself for becoming so massive, and although his teenage stress played a role, he acknowledged that he had become too weak and coped with his pain through television, video games, and excessive snacking in front of the screen.
In conclusion, Keith Martin, the world's heaviest man, passed away at the age of 44. The official cause of death was pneumonia, but the unofficial cause was his excessive weight and his entire lifestyle, which he acknowledged but ultimately could not overcome.
