Biography of Kelly Hu

Kelly Hu is an American actress and model. She was born on February 13, 1968, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her parents divorced when she was a child. From an early age, Kelly was interested in singing, dancing, and martial arts. She often found herself fighting with the boys in her neighborhood.

Inspired by her cousin, who was a successful model in Japan, Kelly decided to pursue a career in modeling. In 1985, she participated in the "Miss Teen USA" beauty pageant and won, becoming the first Asian-American to achieve this title. However, winning the pageant came with some difficulties as she was not allowed to participate in any events unrelated to the competition for a year.

After working in Japan and Italy, Kelly moved to Los Angeles in 1987 to start her acting career. She began with small roles in various popular TV series at the time. Her first appearance in a movie was in the horror film "Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan." Kelly also became "Miss Hawaii USA 1993" and reached the finals of the "Miss USA" pageant.

In 1995, Kelly starred in the action film "No Way Back," which helped establish her as an action heroine. Although the movie itself was not a major success, it opened doors for Kelly to be considered for more action roles. In 1998, she appeared in the TV series "Martial Law" and went on to be part of several major projects, including "The Scorpion King" (2002) and "X2: X-Men United" (2003).

Currently, Kelly Hu continues to actively work in the film and television industry. She has appeared in various TV shows and movies, showcasing her talent and versatility as an actress.
