Biography of Ken Doane

Ken Doane, a former member of the "Spirit Squad," spent a lot of time pursuing his dream of becoming a professional wrestler. He began training under "Killer" Kowalski at the age of 15 and was eventually taken under the wing of WWE after just four years.

Television Champion of OVW

Sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), Doane achieved his first title as the Television Champion of OVW on June 5, 2005. He won the championship in a match against Deuce Shade and successfully defended it against Randy Orton, Brent Albright, and Nick Nemeth.

Joining "The Bolin Services"

As a heel, Doane joined the faction led by Kenny Bolin and Blaster Lashley (later known as Mike from the "Spirit Squad" and Bobby Lashley) known as "The Bolin Services." However, an incident occurred during a match for the Television Champion title between Doane and Brent Albright on August 30, 2005. Albright attempted to make Doane submit, but Doane grabbed onto the ropes. Despite the referee's count, Albright did not break the hold. Doane eventually submitted, but Johnny Jeter (Johnny from the "Spirit Squad") rushed to the ring to attack Albright. The following week, OVW representative Danny Davis declared Albright's victory as unfair and overturned the match result.

Continuing Battles

Although Doane retained his title, the feud with Albright continued. Doane successfully defended his title against former member of "The Bolin Services," Bobby Lashley. However, he suffered a loss against Scotty 2 Hotty in a dark match on SmackDown! on October 28, 2005. On November 9, Ken lost his title to CM Punk. Despite numerous attempts to regain the title in fights against Punk and Albright, Doane was unsuccessful.

Entry into "The Spirit Squad"

In December, Doane adopted the gimmick of a cheerleader. On RAW, he lost matches against Chavo Guerrero but secured victories against Val Venis and Danny Basham. However, he was sent back to OVW to further develop the gimmick of the future "Spirit Squad" and make his return to WWE. In January 2006, Doane joined forces with Johnny Jeter, Mike Mondo, Nick Mitchell, and Nick Nemeth to form the faction known as "The Spirit Squad." They assisted Jonathan Coachman in defeating Jerry "The King" Lawler in a qualifying match for the Royal Rumble.

Success and Dissolution of "The Spirit Squad"

"The Spirit Squad" became the assistants of Vince McMahon in his feud against Shawn Michaels and The Game. Kenny and Mike won the World Tag Team Championships from Kane and The Big Show. Any two members of "The Spirit Squad" could defend the titles. Kenny also had the opportunity to wrestle in singles matches, facing Michaels, Triple H, and even John Cena for the WWE Championship, but he was unable to secure a victory. By the end of 2006, "The Spirit Squad" disbanded, and Kenny was the only member who remained on RAW. He adopted a new gimmick and a new name - Kenny Dykstra, in honor of baseball legend Lenny Dykstra.
