Rowing Career

Early Years and Olympic Ambitions

Jurkowski began his rowing career at Cornell, where he rowed in the varsity eight as a sophomore. By his senior year, he had earned a spot in the first varsity eight, leading the team to the IRA Championship Grand Final for the first time in four years.

Post-College and National Team

After graduating, Jurkowski set his sights on competing in the 2004 Athens Olympics. However, while earning silver in the men's pair, he ultimately did not secure a spot on the U.S. Olympic team. In 2005, he joined the U.S. National Team as a member of the men's four (pair).

International Success and Olympic Debut

Jurkowski achieved significant international success in 2006, helping the U.S. men's eight win a bronze medal at the World Championships. In 2008, he transitioned back to the single sculls, earning a ninth-place finish at the Lucerne World Cup. That same year, he qualified for the Beijing Olympics, where he represented the U.S. in the men's single sculls.

Post-Olympic Career

After the Beijing Olympics, Jurkowski briefly competed in rowing before retiring to pursue other opportunities. He now works as a financial analyst for Merrill Lynch.
