Kendrick Farris: A Rising Star in Weightlifting
Early Life and EducationBorn on July 2, 1986, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Kendrick Farris began his athletic journey playing football and basketball in high school. After graduating, he attended Louisiana Tech University, where he earned a degree in Mass Communications.
Weightlifting Career
Despite being a relative newcomer to weightlifting, Farris has quickly proven his mettle. He has won three national championships (2005, 2006, 2007) in the 85-kilogram weight class. His best lifts include a 158-kilogram snatch in 2007 and a 355-kilogram total (snatch plus clean and jerk) in 2008.
Farris represented the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. He is coached by Kyle Pierce.
Accomplishments
Farris has established several American records in the 85-kilogram weight class. He won a bronze medal at the 2007 Pan American Games.
Personal Life
Farris is a family man and became a father in 2006. He enjoys spending time with his son, Khalil, and his wife. His hobbies include movies, reading (favorite movie: "Jerry Maguire"), and listening to music (favorite band: AC/DC).
