Rise to Fame

Kerry Fox gained recognition for her portrayal of Janet Frame in the biographical film "An Angel at My Table" directed by Jane Campion. This role earned her the Best Actress award from the New Zealand Academy of Film and Television Arts. She went on to pursue an international career, appearing in numerous high-quality independent films and television shows. She was even nominated for an Australian Film Institute award for her leading role in the film "Country Life". Following this, she was cast in Gillian Armstrong's "The Last Days", and later in Elaine Proctor's "Friends".

Major Success and Nominations

One of Kerry Fox's significant successes was her role alongside Ewan McGregor and Christopher Eccleston in Danny Boyle's adventure film "Shallow Grave". She received a nomination for the Canadian Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Tom Fitzgerald's "Hanging Gardens". In addition to her film work, Kerry also appeared in several television films and series, including Danny Boyle's "Mr Wroe's Virgins", "Village Affair", "Saigon Baby", and the highly acclaimed "The Affair" and "The Sound of One Hand Clapping" in 1997.

Kerry Fox made her stage debut in London in 1997. Her first play, Jean Genet's "The Maids", received critical acclaim. She gained further recognition for her roles in "A Doll's House" and "A Lie of the Mind" in 1998 and 2000 respectively.

Later Film Roles

Kerry Fox continued her film career, appearing in supporting roles in films such as "The Wisdom of Crocodiles" starring Jude Law (1998), "Fanny and Elvis" with Ray Winstone, and "Walking with Lions" in 1999. These films, however, received a lukewarm response from both critics and the audience. Nevertheless, Kerry bounced back the following year, winning the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin International Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival for her role as Claire in Patrice Chéreau's "Intimacy" (2001).

Personal Life

Kerry Fox has been married twice. Her first marriage was to actor Jamie Robertson, which ended in divorce. She is currently living with journalist Andrew Linklater, with whom she has a son named Erik. Kerry rarely gives interviews as she prefers to let her work speak for itself.
