Over time, the shop expanded to cover almost 47 square meters. It became a hub for tourists and locals alike, offering a wide range of Maine-inspired merchandise, including T-shirts, bags, hats, stationery, jewelry, and stickers.

Whellette emphasized the shop's commitment to supporting local artists. "Everything in the store is either made or designed by someone in Maine," he said. "When you buy something here, you know where your money is going and who you're supporting." The shop has partnered with over 70 creative individuals and also actively supports the local community through donations to Portland homeless shelters.

In 2023, The Maine Souvenir Shop was recognized as "Portland's Best Retail Store" by PortlandOldPort.com. The award ceremony, hosted by radio personality Joe "The Disco Kid" Dionne, celebrated the achievements of local businesses in 147 categories.
