Early Career
Jaliensbegan his professional career with Sparta Rotterdamin 1996 at the age of 18. He quickly became a regular starter, playing 64 matches over the next two seasons.
Willem II
In 1999, Jaliensmoved to Willem II. He blossomed as a key defender, playing 147 matches and scoring four goals over five seasons.
AZ Alkmaar
In 2000, Jaliensjoined AZ Alkmaar, then managed by Co Adriaanse, his former coach at Willem II. Along with Tim de Cler, the defensive trio of Jaliens, de Cler, and Ron Vlaar led AZ to silver and bronze medals in the Eredivisie from 2004 to 2006.
Recent Years
Jaliensextended his contract with AZ Alkmaaruntil 2012. He debuted for the Dutch national teamin 2006 and represented the Netherlands at the 2006 World Cup. In 2008, he played for the Olympic teamin Beijing.
