Early Career and Esperance Success
Khalil Chemmam began his football journey with his hometown club, Esperance. He made his mark in the 2005/06 season, helping the team secure the Tunisian Championship title. Chemmam's exceptional defensive skills earned him a permanent place in Esperance's starting lineup.
Domestic Dominance with Esperance
Over the following years, Chemmam became a key figure in Esperance's dominance of Tunisian football. He played a pivotal role in the club's five subsequent league title triumphs, as well as four Tunisian Cup victories. Internationally, he contributed to Esperance's continental success, capturing the CAF Champions League in 2011 and the Arab Champions League in 2009 and 2017.
Stint in Portugal
In search of a new challenge, Chemmam ventured into Portuguese football in 2014, joining Vitoria Guimaraes. However, his stay in Europe proved to be short-lived as he struggled to break into the starting lineup. After a single season, he returned to Esperance.
International Honors
Chemmam made his international debut for Tunisia in 2008 and was part of the squad at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations. Although he did not feature in any games at that tournament, he made three appearances in the 2013 edition and participated in the 2012 tournament.
