Kierra Sheard: A Biography

Kierra "Kiki" Sheard, born on June 20, 1987, in Detroit, Michigan, is an American singer of Christian songs. She is the daughter of Karen Clark Sheard, a well-known Christian singer and member of the family Christian group "The Clark Sisters," and the granddaughter of legendary Christian choir director Mattie Moss Clark.

Early Years and Musical Beginnings

At the age of six, Kierra started singing in the choir of the Church of God in Christ, where her father, Jay Drew Sheard, served as a pastor. She began pursuing music professionally at the age of ten. In 1997, she participated in recording the final track "The Will Of God" from her mother's solo album, which won the "Stellar" award for "Best Children's Composition" the following year.

Emerging Career

For the next few years, Kierra honed her skills as a performer, accompanying her mother on concert tours across the country. In 2003, the record label "EMI Gospel" offered Kierra a contract to release her debut solo album. Her first album, "I Owe You," was released on September 7, 2004, and featured her brother, Jay Drew Jr., as a collaborator. The following year, "EMI Gospel" released a remix collection of her debut album titled "Just Until..."

Shortly after graduating from high school in June 2006, Kierra released her second album, "This Is Me," which debuted at number one on the Christian charts. She also recorded her first music videos for the songs "Yes" and "This Is Me" in the same year. In December 2006, her second album was nominated for a Grammy award for "Best Christian R&B Album."

Bold Right Life and Continued Success

In 2006, Kierra founded the group "Bold Right Life" (also known as "BRL") consisting of well-known Christian performers. She continued her success with her third album, titled "Why Me?," which she performed at various Christian music gatherings and earned another Stellar award at the end of 2007.

In October 2008, Kierra released her fourth album, "Bold Right Life," featuring hits like "Praise Him Now" and "Won't Hold Back." In September 2009, "EMI Gospel" released a hit collection of Kierra's previous albums, which sold extensively across the country.

Acting and Academic Pursuits

In addition to her music career, Kierra began venturing into acting in 2009. She received a small role in the dramatic film "Prodigal Daughter," directed by Stena Foster, set to release in 2010. The film stars LeToya Luckett, Tammy Townsend, Carlos Davis, and Andre Butler.

Currently, Kierra is studying law at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. According to her, the decision to pursue a legal education has influenced her career in the Christian music industry. Kierra has temporarily put her Christian singing career on hold until she completes her university studies, although she occasionally joins her mother on tour.
