Kim Kirchen: Professional Road Cyclist
Kim Kirchen is a former professional road cyclist who began his career with De Nardi-Pasta Montegrappa in 2000 and Fassa Bortolo in 2001. In 2006, he joined Team T-Mobile and later raced for the Russian team Katusha in 2010.
Career Highlights
Kirchen achieved his first victory in 2000, winning the Piva Col trophy. He was recognized as Luxembourg's Sportsman of the Year on multiple occasions, receiving the honor in 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2007.
Health Scare
During the 2010 Tour de Suisse, Kirchen was hospitalized on the night of June 18-19 after suffering a heart attack. He was placed in an induced coma until June 23, raising concerns for his health.
