Early Life and Education
Kimbal Musk, the Canadian-South African entrepreneur, was born and raised in South Africa alongside his brother Elon, sister Tosca, and numerous cousins. His mother, Maye Musk, was a renowned dietitian, and his father had his own engineering practice. After graduating from high school in Pretoria, South Africa, Musk left to join his brother in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He enrolled at Queen's University to pursue a degree in business. While in school, Musk initially worked at Scotiabank. He graduated from Queen's University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Business Ventures
In 1995, Musk co-founded Zip2 with his brother Elon. Zip2 provided online business directories and maps to media companies. The company was acquired by Compaq in 1999 for $307 million.
Musk is the owner of "The Kitchen Restaurant Group," which operates restaurants in Colorado, Chicago, Cleveland, Memphis, and Indianapolis. He is also the founder of the non-profit organization Big Green, which aims to establish learning gardens in schools. Additionally, he co-founded Square Roots, a vertical farming company that utilizes controlled environments for crop production.
Personal Life
Musk was previously married to Jen Lewin, but the couple later divorced. In April 2018, he married Christiana Wyly, the daughter of Sam Wyly, a prominent writer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.
