Biography of Kimya Dawson

Kimya Dawson is an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter, known for her solo albums as well as her collaboration with Adam Green in the popular group 'The Moldy Peaches'. she gained extreme popularity among fans of the movie 'Juno' starring Ellen Page, Kimya - which means 'silence' in Swahili - is currently one of the most well-known folk artists. However, she and Adam Green prefer to call their style anti-folk. The main difference is that instead of politically charged and profound compositions of the 1960s and 1970s, they offer songs without explicit political context and excessive seriousness, which are cheerful, joyful, and sometimes sad. Anti-folk, with its lack of established systems and traditions, opens up space for musicians to experiment, create, and express their thoughts.

Soon, the group began performing concerts in New York and neighboring states, and their simple and happy songs, free from politics and societal issues, were well-received by fans.
