Kodji Gyoku: Japanese Footballer and Coach
Early Life and CareerKodji Gyoku, a Japanese footballer, was born in Japan. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Tokai University in Tokyo. He began his professional football career with Werder Bremen in Germany, playing for the club from 1988 to 1989. Subsequently, he joined the Japanese club Nagoya Grampus, where he played from 1989 to 1992. Gyoku made 13 appearances for the club but failed to score any goals.
Coaching Career
Shimisu S-PulseGyoku's coaching debut came in 2003 when he took charge of the Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse after the resignation of manager Takeshi Oki. Under his guidance, the team reached the semi-finals of both the Japanese League Cup and the Emperor's Cup while finishing 11th in the league.
Bhutan National Team
In 2008, Gyoku became the coach of the Bhutan national team. He led the team to the semi-finals of the 2008 SAFF Championship, where they narrowly lost to India in extra time by a score of 2-1. In the 2008 and 2010 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers, Bhutan achieved third and fourth-place finishes, respectively. However, during the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign, Bhutan withdrew after the draw, citing the inability to prepare their field for a match against Kuwait.
