Early Life and Education
Kovalenko Surenovich Shahgaldyan was born on 1946 in Alapars village, Razdan region. In 1964-1969, he attended the mechanical department of the correspondence faculty of Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. He later earned an economics degree from Yerevan Institute for External Economic Relations and Management in 1991-1996.
Professional Experience
Shahgaldyan began his career as a constructor and master at the Charentsavan machine-tool plant from 1963-1974. He then worked as a master and head of various departments, including the tool, forge, and assembly shops, at Charentsavan automobile plant from 1974-1984.
Managerial Roles in the Automotive Industry
In 1984-1989, Shahgaldyan served as the head of production at the "Armavto" association. He was later promoted to deputy general director responsible for production and then first deputy general director from 1989-1992.
Leadership of Armavto and Mayor of Charentsavan
From 1992-1999, Shahgaldyan was the general director of the "Armavto" association. He then became the mayor of Charentsavan, serving from 1999-2001.
Governor of Kotayk Region
In 2001, Shahgaldyan was appointed as the governor of Kotayk region. He continues to serve in this role as a member of the Republican Party of Armenia.
