Tragedy in Military Town: Soldier's Wife Murdered

Discovery of Body

On Sunday evening, the lifeless body of 39-year-old Krishnamaya Mabo was found in a field approximately 450-500 meters from her residence in the Arborfield Military Garrison, Berkshire. The victim, a Nepalese national, had been strangled to death by an unknown assailant who had abducted her from the street.

Police Investigation

Detectives from Thames Valley Police immediately launched an investigation into the murder. Officers detained a 30-year-old man in connection with the crime, and he remains in custody for questioning. The Magistrates' Court has granted the police an additional 36 hours to hold the suspect.

Victim Background

Mabo was the wife of a serving soldier in the Ministry of Defense's Provost Guard Service (MGPs). Her family reported her missing on Monday morning after failing to locate her themselves. A police helicopter and officers conducted an extensive search of the area but initially found no trace of her.

Community Impact

The murder has sent shockwaves through the approximately 30 Nepalese families residing in the military town. Residents expressed concern and fear, with some now hesitant to venture out alone, especially during the evening hours.

Cause of Death

A post-mortem examination conducted by Home Office pathologists determined that Mabo died of asphyxia. Her body was discovered in a field adjacent to Robin Hood Copse at approximately 13:00 on Monday. Although formal identification has yet to be completed, the deceased is believed to be Krishnamaya Mabo.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation into Mabo's murder is ongoing, with detectives continuing to interview the suspect and gather evidence. Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area on Sunday evening to come forward. The community is urged to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
