Biography of Krissy Taylor

Kristen Erin Taylor, known as Krissy Taylor, was born on May 15, 1978, in Miami, Florida. She grew up in South Florida with her parents and two older sisters. Her older sister, Niki Taylor, who is an American supermodel, played a significant role in introducing Krissy to the world of modeling. At the age of 11, Krissy started working at a modeling agency in New York City.

Early Career

Krissy's modeling career began when she started accompanying her sister, Niki, to photoshoots. Her talent caught the attention of photographers, and she soon built her own portfolio. Her first joint photoshoot with her sister was published in the popular teen magazine "Seventeen." This exposure led to Krissy signing a contract with the same agency as her sister, IMG, in New York.

Success in the Fashion Industry

At the age of 13, Krissy impressed designers at a casting for the fall fashion show in Milan, Italy, where she walked the runway alongside renowned models such as Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, and Claudia Schiffer. She went on to have numerous successful photo shoots for magazines such as "ELLE," Italian "Glamour," "YM," "Cosmopolitan," and "Vogue." Her face graced the covers of 13 magazines, and she also walked in eight shows during the 1994 spring collections in New York, including Ralph Lauren's collection.

Personal Interests

Krissy had typical hobbies and interests for a girl her age. She enjoyed dancing, listening to country music, rollerblading, water skiing, and having fun at the beach with friends.

Tragic Death

On July 2, 1995, Niki Taylor found Krissy unconscious on the floor of their family home in Florida. Despite their attempts to revive her, Krissy was rushed to Memorial Hospital West, where doctors pronounced her dead at 5:39 am. She was only 17 years old. Krissy had been suffering from allergies that put a strain on her respiratory system, and she used the over-the-counter inhaler Primatene to alleviate her shortness of breath. Although the inhaler contained epinephrine, which could potentially lead to cardiac arrhythmia, it could not be proven that she had used it shortly before her death. The official cause of death was declared as an acute asthma attack complicated by sudden cardiac arrhythmia.

Legacy and Research

However, Krissy had never previously experienced asthma or exhibited any symptoms of heart disease. Dissatisfied with the diagnosis, the Taylor family hired independent experts to examine samples of Krissy's heart tissue. The experts concluded that she likely suffered from a rare heart condition called arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia, which carries a high risk of sudden death. Barbara Taylor, Krissy's mother, is currently involved with the CARE Foundation, a charity dedicated to researching and preventing cardiac arrhythmias.
