Biography of Lina Marulanda

Lina María Marulanda Cuartas was born on May 15, 1980, in Medellín, Colombia. She began her modeling career at the age of 12 and quickly became in demand for fashion shows and photo shoots. Marulanda appeared as the face of major clothing brands and graced the pages of magazines such as 'SoHo', 'Don Juan', 'Cromos', and 'G'.

However, in a 2004 interview, she expressed regret about how her youth had passed. Despite her success in the modeling industry, Marulanda lamented the years of her youth.

Early Life and Education

Marulanda initially attended Santa María del Rosario de Medellín High School but later transferred to Parra Paris High School to end conflicts with the school administration and nuns. After completing her secondary education, Marulanda enrolled at Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogota, where she studied advertising.

Television and Radio Career

In 2002, Lina Marulanda made her debut as a television presenter on CM& News. She later spent six years working on the news program 'Noticias Caracol'. Starting in 2003, Marulanda became responsible for entertainment news in the evening edition, initially alongside actress Margarita Ortega, and later with model Adriana Arboleda.

In December 2005, journalist Ivan Lalinde became Marulanda's new co-host. In early 2007, she became the host of the reality show 'Challenge 20-07' on Canal Caracol. In July of the same year, Marulanda returned to CM& News and hosted a special segment dedicated to Colombiamoda 2007 (Colombian Fashion Week). She also reported on Colombiamoda on W Radio.

On July 24, 2007, Marulanda joined the radio show 'La hora del Regreso' on the same station, replacing Marcela Sarmiento.

Tragic End

On April 22, 2010, Lina Marulanda tragically passed away after falling from the balcony of her sixth-floor apartment. At the time, her parents, ex-husband, and a doctor were present in the apartment. Marulanda was going through a difficult time, on the brink of divorcing her second husband, Carlos Oñate, only three months after their wedding. It is believed that her depressive state and excessive use of antidepressants pushed her to take her own life.
