Early Achievements and National Success

Krum Georgiev emerged as a promising chess prodigy in Bulgaria. In 1977, he claimed the Bulgarian Junior Championship. He further distinguished himself at the European Junior Championship, where he secured an impressive third-place finish in 1977/1978.

National Championship Performances

Georgiev consistently performed well in the Bulgarian Chess Championship. His most notable achievements include a joint first-second place in 1979, as well as top-five finishes in 1980, 1982, 1984, and 1986.

International Tournaments

On the international stage, Georgiev achieved success in various tournaments. In Varna (1977 and 1979), he finished third and third-fourth respectively. He secured a joint first-second place in Athens (1978), a first-fourth place in Thessaloniki (1979/1980), and a second place in Plovdiv (1980).

He continued his strong performance with a second-third place in Plovdiv (1981), a third-sixth place in Nis (1981), and a second place in Golden Sands (1982). In Thessaloniki (1983), he finished third, followed by a fifth-seventh place in Kragujevac (1984) and a second-third place in Zenica (1984).
