The Distressing BirthAn Indian woman, identified as Kulia Bai, gave birth to a boy in the remote village of Pindwara, India. To her and her family's shock, the newborn had an additional pair of legs, an extra arm, and an additional genital organ due to a parasitic twin.
The Village's Horrified Reaction
The family was so horrified by the baby's deformities that they considered throwing him into a river. News of the unusual child quickly spread throughout the village, eventually reaching Dr. Bharat Pal Danda, the owner of a local hospital.
A Race Against Time
Dr. Danda dispatched an ambulance to the village and the mother and child were brought to the hospital. The medical team immediately began removing the extra limbs and organs, saving the baby's life.
The Successful Surgery
The baby was then transferred to a larger hospital in Jaipur, where a team of four surgeons successfully performed surgery to remove the parasitic twin. Dr. Parveen Mathur, the lead surgeon, explained that the baby had "four legs, three arms, and two genital organs."
The Aftermath
The baby is recovering well, but will continue to be monitored by medical professionals. Three months prior, a similar surgery had been performed at the Jaipur hospital.

Parasitic twins occur when identical twins fail to separate in the womb. The cause of this failure is unknown, but it is believed to be related to insufficient blood supply during pregnancy. Parasitic twins are extremely rare, occurring in about one in a million births.
