Early Life and EducationKonstantin Alexandrovich Andrianovwas born on December 28, 1904, in the village of Kondrakovo (present-day Tver Oblast). In 1930, he graduated from Moscow State University (MSU).
Academic and Industrial Career
1929-1954:Andrianov worked at the All-Union Electrical Engineering Institute (VEI).
1930-1932:He taught at the Moscow Chemical Engineering Institute (MKI).
1933-1941:He taught at the Moscow Chemical Technology Institute (MKhTI).
1941-1959:Andrianov taught at the Moscow Energy Institute (MEI), becoming a professor in 1946.
1946-1953:He worked at the All-Union Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM).
1954 onward:Andrianov worked at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the USSR Academy of Sciences (IEOSAN).
1959 onward:He headed the Department of Polymer Synthesis at the Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology (MITKhT).
Scientific Contributions
Andrianov played a pivotal role in the synthesis and technology of high-molecular-weight compounds, particularly organosilicon compounds. In 1937, he achieved the first synthesis of polyorganosiloxanes. From 1947, he developed principles for synthesizing polymers with inorganic chain molecules, including polyorganometallosiloxanes. He led research on the synthesis of heat-resistant organosilicon polymers and materials based on them, which found widespread use in electrical insulation, lubricants, plastics, and coatings.
