Early Life and Career

Ladislão, a former Brazilian footballer and striker, holds the record for most goals scored for the club Bangu, with a remarkable 217. As the elder brother of renowned footballer Domingos da Guia and uncle to Ademir da Guia, Ladislão spent his entire club career with Bangu, making 325 appearances between 1922 and 1940. During his time at the club, he notched an impressive 217 goals.

Debut and Career Highlights

Ladislão made his debut for Bangu on June 4, 1922, in a Rio de Janeiro State Championship match against Andarahy, which Bangu won 2-1. He played two games in his first season but did not return to the team until 1926. In 1930, he became the top scorer in the Rio State Championship.

Under Ladislão's leadership, Bangu won the Rio State Championship in 1933 and the Torneio Início do Rio de Janeiro the following year. However, their attempt to repeat the 1933 triumph was thwarted by Ladislão's six-month suspension for assaulting referee Jorge Marinho on June 24. Despite the setback, Ladislão returned to the team in 1935 as the state's top scorer, helping Bangu achieve fourth place.

International Career

In 1930, Ladislão was called up to Brazil's national team, which was preparing for its first World Cup. Due to the distance and logistical challenges associated with training in Laranjeiras, Ladislão declined to participate in the tournament. In 1934, national team coach Luís Vinhaes was forced to assemble a squad of non-professional players due to Bangu's professional status. As a result, Ladislão was ineligible to play.

Retirement and Legacy

Ladislão ended his playing career in 1940, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional goal-scoring prowess. Despite his refusal to play in the World Cup, he remains an esteemed figure in Brazilian football history.
