Early Life and Education
Lansana Kouyaté was born in 1950 in the village of Koba near the capital city of Conakry. He pursued higher education in Guinea, graduating from the University of Conakry with a degree in Public Administration.
Diplomatic Career
In 1983, Kouyaté embarked on a diplomatic career. He held various positions before being appointed Guinea's ambassador to Egypt, Sudan, Turkey, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon in 1987. In 1992, he became Guinea's permanent representative to the United Nations.
Prime Minister of Guinea
Kouyaté was appointed Prime Minister in 2007 amidst a crisis sparked by massive labor strikes and clashes with security forces.
