Early Life and Education
Valerijs Buhvalovs was born in Latvia and developed a passion for education at an early age. He exhibited exceptional academic abilities and graduated with honors from the Daugavpils Pedagogical Institute in 1988.
Teaching and Academic Career
Buhvalovs embarked on a distinguished teaching career as a biology teacher at the Jelgava 3 Secondary School from 1988 to 1996, where he held the position of Deputy Director for Scientific and Methodological Work. Simultaneously, he pursued his graduate studies at the Herzen Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute, earning his degree with honors in 1993.
From 1995 onwards, Buhvalovs became a biology teacher at the Eureka College and served as Vice-Director for Pedagogical Processes. He also taught biology at the Eksperiments Pedagogical Center from 1998 to 2004.
Political Involvement
In 2005, Buhvalovs entered the political arena as a Deputy of the Jelgava City Council. In 2006, he was elected as a member of the 9th Saeima, the Latvian parliament, representing the Harmony party.
