Biography of Lars Martin Jorgensen

Lars Martin Jorgensen is a Danish footballer who played as a midfielder. He represented the Danish national team and participated in three World Cups and two European Championships.

Early Life and Career

Jorgensen was born in Rungsted, a small town in the Dursland district of Denmark. He began his career playing for the local club "Mitturs." He quickly emerged as a leader and was called up to various Danish national youth teams from 1991. In 1993, Jorgensen made his debut for the senior team of "Orhus," where he earned a place in the starting lineup.

Success in Denmark

In 1996, Jorgensen won his first trophy, the Danish Cup, with "Orhus." He was also named the country's best young player and became the leader of the Danish youth team, scoring 9 goals in 31 appearances. In April 1997, Jorgensen left "Orhus" as a free agent, thanks to a clause in his contract. Several clubs, including Udinese, showed interest in him. Jorgensen chose to continue his career with Udinese, where fellow Danish player Thomas Helveg was already playing. In his first season with Udinese, Jorgensen helped the team secure a third-place finish in the league. He continued to perform well for the club for seven years.

Move to Fiorentina and Return to Odense

In August 2004, Fiorentina purchased half of Jorgensen's rights for €2.5 million. His time with the club was marked by ups and downs, as he played the role of a playmaker, organizing the team's attacks. After Fiorentina decided not to exercise their option to buy the remaining rights to Jorgensen, he remained with Udinese. Jorgensen's performances improved, and he became a key player and fan favorite. He was even appointed vice-captain of the team. However, injuries hampered his progress, and he missed several months of play during the 2007/08 season and suffered a relapse in the 2008/09 season. Jorgensen expressed his desire to leave Fiorentina and return to Odense. On January 31, 2010, he made the move back to Odense.

International Career

Jorgensen made his debut for the Danish national team in March 1998. Two months later, he represented Denmark at the World Cup in France, where he played in all five matches and scored a goal in the quarterfinals against Brazil, which Denmark lost 2-3. At the European Championship two years later, Jorgensen played in only one match, and he participated in three games at the 2002 World Cup before suffering an injury.

Personal Life

Jorgensen has a brother named Mads, who is also a footballer. He is married to Marianne, and they have two children, Carolina and Christian. Jorgensen is a collector of vintage cars and enjoys cycling.
