The Early Years
Mohamed Salah Hamed Mahrous Ghaly was born on June 15, 1992, in Nagrig, Egypt. He started his football career at the youth academy of El Mokawloon, where he made his senior team debut in 2010. Salah quickly established himself as a regular starter and scored his first goal for the club on December 25, 2010.
Career in Switzerland
In 2012, Salah moved to Basel in Switzerland. He made his debut in a friendly against Steaua Bucharest and scored his first competitive goal in a Europa League qualifier against Thun. Salah played a key role in Basel's Swiss Super League title win in 2013, where he was named the league's Player of the Year.
Chelsea and Fiorentina
In 2014, Salah joined Chelsea for a fee of £11 million. He made his Premier League debut against Newcastle United and scored his first goal for the club against Arsenal. However, he struggled to establish himself as a regular starter and was loaned out to Fiorentina in 2015.
At Fiorentina, Salah rediscovered his form, scoring 9 goals in 26 Serie A appearances. He helped the team reach the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and win a penalty for his side against Juventus.
Roma and Liverpool
In 2016, Salah was sold to Roma for a fee of £15 million. He continued to impress, scoring 29 goals in all competitions during the 2016/17 season. In 2017, he was named African Footballer of the Year by the BBC.
In 2017, Salah joined Liverpool for a fee of £36.9 million. He has since become an iconic figure at the club, forming a formidable attacking trio with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. Salah has won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Super Cup with Liverpool, and in 2018, he was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season.
International Career
Salah has represented Egypt at all youth levels. He made his senior international debut in 2011 and has since appeared in over 70 matches for his country. He was part of the Egypt team that finished second in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and scored the goal that secured Egypt's qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Personal Life
Mohamed Salah is married to Maggi Salah, and they have a daughter named Mecca. He is a devout Muslim and often celebrates his goals with a sujood.
