Laura Hidalgo: The Argentine Femme Fatale
Laura Hidalgo was an Argentine actress known for her portrayals of femme fatale characters.
Early Career
Hidalgo began her film career in 1949 with a role in "Su Ultima Pelea" ("His Last Fight"). Over the next eight years, she starred in numerous popular films for the Argentina Sono Film studio.
Breakthrough Role
In 1951, Hidalgo's career took off with her starring role in the film "Orchidea," opposite Laura Hidalgo. The film's success made her a household name in Argentina.
International Career
In 1957, Hidalgo expanded her career to Mexico and Spain. She also met and married Mexican architect Manuel Rozen in the same year.
Life in Exile
Hidalgo eventually moved to Mexico, where she published a collection of poems in Spanish entitled "La casa a cuestas" (1981; 2nd edition, 1987). In the early 1980s, she relocated to the United States, where she lived under the name Laura Rozen de Faerman.
