Military Career
In 1913, Cardenas joined the revolutionary army of Venustiano Carranza. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a captain the following year and a general in 1920. His military leadership and battlefield prowess earned him recognition and respect.
Political Ascendancy
After the Mexican Revolution, Cardenas held various political positions. In the 1920s, he commanded the military garrison in Tampico, served as governor of Michoacan, and co-founded the National Revolutionary Party (NRP), which evolved into the largest political party in Mexico.
Presidential Reforms
In 1934, Cardenas was elected president of Mexico. He implemented a comprehensive reform program that embodied the ideals of the Mexican Revolution. He nationalized large estates, distributing millions of hectares of land to peasants. Nationalization of Oil
