Early Career
Gabriel Heinze, an Argentine and Italian footballer, began his professional career in 2004 with Argentine club Huracán. He played for the youth team and eventually progressed to the main squad.
Move to Racing and Award
In 2006, Heinze joined Racing Club de Avellaneda. He quickly established himself in the team and was recognized as the Apertura's best young player.
Brief Stint at AC Milan
In 2007, Heinze transferred to AC Milan. However, he struggled to break into the starting lineup. He made his Serie A debut for Milan on April 18, 2007, in a match against Ascoli, coming on as a substitute in the 79th minute.
Loan Spells and Transfer to Sporting Clube de Portugal
During the 2007/08 season, Heinze was sent on loan to Siena and later to Sporting Clube de Portugal. At Sporting, he became a regular player. In the summer of 2008, Sporting purchased Heinze's rights for 4 million euros.
Success with Sporting Clube de Portugal
With Sporting, Heinze achieved considerable success. He won the Portuguese Cup and SuperCup, finished second in the league, and reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup.
