Biography of Lynn Smith
Lynn Smith was born on May 28, 1987, in North Conway, New Hampshire, USA. Her first school was the Mt. Washington Valley ski resort, famous for being visited by the renowned Austrian skier, Hanna Schneider, in 1938. Lynn's father was her first instructor. "He taught my sister and me how to ski, and I never fell," says the future champion. Lynn immediately fell in love with the sport of skiing and always demonstrated outstanding performance. However, her parents couldn't afford to send her to a Ski Academy, so Lynn continued her education in a local school and trained independently. Even today, as a world-renowned skier, she prefers her native New Hampshire over any training grounds. "Since childhood, I believe that hard work is all it takes to succeed in anything," says Lynn.
The University Years
The University of New Hampshire became the forge of talent for the future champion. It is here that the story of her skiing victories began. Lynn repeatedly became the winner of youth competitions. "I tried to pursue skiing professionally, and I started to succeed. The older I get, the better I become. It's amazing to know that you are the best at something. And I always strive to do everything I do as best as possible," Lynn reveals her professional secrets.
Rise to Fame
Her sports career began in 2008 at the International Cup in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada, where she finished 23rd - a good result for a skier who had just left the junior league. The Lake Louise competition was also the first skiing event of the 2008 season. Such a bright start opened up huge prospects for Lynn, and the national team coach had high hopes for her, but unfortunately, the next cup of the season turned out to be much less successful for Lynn. She suffered a severe knee injury at the games in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy and had to return to the US for extensive treatment and rehabilitation. "Losing Lynn at the beginning of the season was a huge disaster," says the head of the national ski team, Jess Hunt. "She was in excellent shape at the start of the season, and she had every chance of becoming the World Champion." Of course, no one doubted that as soon as the rehabilitation period ended, Lynn would immediately return to the big sport. The result did not take long - Lynn made it into the US Olympic team. This choice cannot be considered accidental. Lynn was among the top twenty skiers at the games in Val d'Isere, France, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, and Saint-Moritz, Switzerland, and the upcoming Olympic Games will not be her last.
