Early Life and Education

Lee Yi Kyung was born on January 8, 1989, in Cheongju, South Korea, to affluent parents. His father worked as a director at LG Innotek, and his mother's name is Kim Hee Ja. Yi Kyung also has an older sister.

Despite his strict upbringing, Yi Kyung excelled academically and pursued karate as a child. At the age of 18, he relocated to Seoul to attend the National Sports University. However, a knee injury prevented him from continuing his studies.

After completing his mandatory military service, Yi Kyung discovered his passion for acting while watching movies and dramas with his fellow soldiers. Inspired, he auditioned for acting schools and was accepted into 10 out of 12 institutions. He ultimately chose the Seoul National University of the Arts.

Acting Career

Yi Kyung made his acting debut in a small role in the 2013 drama "School." He quickly gained recognition for his versatility, playing supporting roles in popular films and dramas such as "Sword and Flower," "My Love from the Star," "Pirates," and "Descendants of the Sun."

In 2014, Yi Kyung received his first comedic role in the drama "Bride of the Century." This breakthrough gave him confidence in portraying diverse characters. He is known for his ability to balance serious and comedic roles seamlessly.

In 2018, Yi Kyung showcased his darker side in the drama "Monster," where he played a manipulative high school student who terrorizes his classmate. In 2019, he took on the lead role of a detective in the drama "Less than Evil," exploring the complexities of domestic violence.

Music and Personal Life

Beyond acting, Yi Kyung has also pursued a music career since 2015. He has released several songs and music videos that have garnered significant popularity online.

Despite his immense popularity, Yi Kyung keeps his personal life private. He has admitted to dating his "Laughter in Waikiki" co-star Jung In Sun, but the couple announced their separation in 2018.
