In the fall of 1976, Garrett signed with Atlantic Records and released his self-titled debut album, which quickly spawned four hit singles. Continued Music Career

Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, Garrett released several more albums, including "Same Goes For You" (1979), "Can't Explain" (1980), and "My Movie of You" (1981). He continued to record music alongside his acting career.

Return to Acting

In the 1980s, Garrett returned to the big screen. He portrayed Bob Sheldon in "The Outsiders" (1983) and had a leading role in "Shaker Run" (1985). He also appeared in "Thunder Alley" (1985), "Delta Fever" (1986), and "Cheerleader Camp" (1988).

After a five-year hiatus, Garrett returned to the spotlight in 1995 with a low-budget horror film, "Dominion." He also recorded a cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" for the Melvins' album "The Crybaby." In 1998, he released "The Leif Garrett Collection," a compilation of his greatest hits.
