Cuban Chess Champion and Grandmaster
Lazaro Bruzon Batista, a Cuban-born chess grandmaster, was born in Las Tunas, Cuba, on May 2, 1982. He developed a passion for chess at a young age and quickly became one of the most promising players in the country.
Rise to Grandmaster
In 2000, Bruzon earned the coveted title of Grandmaster, becoming one of the elite chess players in the world. He went on to win the Cuban National Chess Championship twice, in 2002 and 2006, further cementing his status as one of Cuba's top players.

Bruzon represented Cuba in numerous international competitions, including eight Chess Olympiads (2000-2014) and three World Team Championships (2001-2005, 2015). He also won the prestigious tournament in Barcelona in 2006, showcasing his exceptional talent on the world stage.
