Czech Catholic Theologian and Translator
Czech Catholic theologian, philosopher, and translator, specializing in medieval theology and philosophy. She graduated from high school in Prague (1977-1981), the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Comenius University in Prague (1981-1986), and completed postgraduate studies in theology at the Catholic University in Eichstätt (Bavaria; 1989-1991), the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris (1991-1992), and a doctorate at the Catholic University in Eichstätt (1992-1996).
Academic Career
She defended her doctoral dissertation, "The Infinite God and Human Life as an Endless Way," at the Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology at Palacký University in Olomouc. She received the title of professor at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of Charles University in Prague. During her time at the Faculty of Theology at Palacký University in Olomouc, she founded the "Center for Work with Patristic, Medieval, and Renaissance Texts" and served as its director from 2000 to 2004.
Publishing and Editorial Work
She has published translations of works by Anselm of Canterbury and Hugh of Saint Victor. She has also been involved in publishing, serving as an editor for the "Oikoumene" publishing house, the "Fontes Latini Bohemorum" series, the "Library of Medieval Tradition," and the "Library of Early Christian Tradition."
