Leonardo Veliz, a renowned Chilean footballer, was born on September 3, 1944, in Vina del Mar, Chile. His formative years were spent honing his skills at local clubs before he joined Colo-Colo in 1972.

Domestic Career: Colo-Colo and Other Clubs

Veliz made his professional debut for Colo-Colo on March 19, 1972, against Deportes Antofagasta. Over the next six seasons, he became an integral part of the team, amassing 183 league appearances and scoring 29 goals. Veliz helped Colo-Colo secure three Chilean league titles and three Chilean Cups. He also played a crucial role in their run to the Copa Libertadores final in 1973.

After leaving Colo-Colo, Veliz went on to represent Everton de Vina del Mar, Union Espanola, and O'Higgins.

International Career: Representing Chile

Veliz made his international debut for Chile on February 23, 1966, in a friendly match against the Soviet Union. He represented his country in various major tournaments, including the 1974 FIFA World Cup, the 1975 Copa America, and the 1979 Copa America. In 1979, Chile finished as runners-up in the Copa America, with Veliz making significant contributions.
