Early Life and Education

Born in 1960 in Mguzudzurkhva, Gudauta District, Republic of Abkhazia, the future Minister of Culture embarked on his artistic journey in 1974 at the Sukhumi Art School. From there, his studies continued at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts from 1982 to 1988.

Artistic Career

In the years following his graduation, the artist served as a restorer at the Abkhazian State Museum from 1978 to 1981 and again from 1988 to 1992. His artistic talents also found expression in his role as a set designer for the Sukhumi Youth Theatre from 1981 to 1982.

Directorial Role

In 1994, he assumed the directorship of the State National Art Gallery, where he played a pivotal role in promoting and preserving Abkhazian art. Under his leadership, the gallery became a hub for cultural exchange and artistic expression.

Ministerial Appointment

In 2001, the artist's contributions to the cultural landscape of Abkhazia were recognized with his appointment as Minister of Culture for the Republic. Despite government reshuffles in 2003, he retained his position, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to fostering cultural growth and development within the region.
