Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Born Valeria Gureeva on January 28, 1988, in Novy Urengoy, Russia, LeRa Moskwa's passion for music emerged at a tender age. At six, she began singing, and by twelve, she was writing poetry and composing her first song at fourteen. Recognizing that school could hinder her musical aspirations, LeRa dedicated two weeks to preparing for and passing her final exams externally.

Move to Moscow and Contract with Igor Markov

After seeing an advertisement for a Moscow-based production center, LeRa's pursuit of a career in the capital city took shape. Upon arriving in Moscow, she quickly realized that she was dealing with extortionists and decided to search for a genuine producer at a karaoke bar. After two weeks of nightly visits, her luck turned. At a business meeting, she encountered Igor Markov, a producer who recognized her exceptional vocal abilities and subsequently offered her a contract.

In 2003, LeRa officially changed her surname to Moskwa, inspired by her stage name, and enrolled at the Moscow State Law Institute. The following year, she formed a band that accompanied her on live performances for several years. Inspired by her surroundings, people, and relationships, Moskwa penned songs in various settings, including rehearsals, cafes, and even on the street. Many of her lyrics were autobiographical in nature.
